Carole A. Feuerman

What If

What If is one of Carole Feuerman’s most introspective table-top figures. Seated with her knees drawn close and her head resting lightly on one hand, the swimmer seems caught inside a thought rather than a narrative action. Metallic swimwear, painted droplets and crystal-set caps heighten the surface, but the sculpture’s impact comes from its closed, circular posture and withheld gaze. Across color and finish variants, What If turns hyperrealist technique toward an open-ended psychological question, inviting the viewer to imagine the thought that the figure keeps entirely to herself.
