Carole A. Feuerman

Dawn

Dawn reveals a different side of Carole Feuerman’s swimmer vocabulary. Rather than relying on painted resin and the illusion of wet skin, the standing figure is cast in patinated bronze, head bowed, arms at rest and a polished swim cap catching the light. The contrast between darkened bronze, reflective accents and the stone base gives the work a classical gravity while retaining the unmistakable silhouette of Feuerman’s aquatic figures. Compact in scale but quietly monumental in attitude, Dawn turns the moment before or after performance into a study of concentration, poise and introspection.
