Quan turns balance into architecture. Carole Feuerman places a crouching female swimmer on top of a polished sphere, compressing the body into a taut curve while the rounded base appears to remove any stable ground beneath her. Water droplets, swimwear and cap preserve the artist’s hyperrealist detail, but the geometry is almost abstract: flesh against sphere, stillness against implied instability. Created from intimate Miniature Quan editions to monumental public versions, the composition changes dramatically with scale and reflective finish while keeping its central idea intact: strength is most visible at the point where control looks precarious.
