Idan Zareski

Big Foot

Bigfoot is where it all began — the first of the lineage, and the work from which Idan Zareski's whole big-footed family descends. Rooted in African and Latin American influences, the colossal feet are the subject rather than a stylistic device: they stand for a shared past and for our connection to a fragile planet, for the idea that we all come from the same small world. The figure stands, planted, at ease. The collection runs from small bronzes to monumental casts, in bronze and resin, with painted variations — red trousers, black and gold, dark bronze — that change the character without altering the stance. Editions of eight.
