Carcassonne is to open a space dedicated to contemporary art right in the heart of the city. Two major artists, street artist JR and sculptor Richard Orlinski, have already been announced for the inauguration in June. Located in the former Banque de France building on Rue Jean Bringer, the new institution will offer 800 square meters of exhibition space.
To mark its opening, the center will feature two major exhibitions, the first of which, titled Hors des murs, will be dedicated to Richard Orlinski. As part of the exhibition, five monumental and colorful sculptures by Orlinski will be installed in key locations around the city, bringing art into public spaces.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the city's cultural landscape and revitalize its historic center by positioning Carcassonne as a prominent destination for contemporary art.
