First censored, now exhibited in a museum... Hyperrealist exhibition: "Long Island Girl"

The exhibition "Long Island Girl" by American hyperrealist sculptor Carole A. Feuerman is currently on display at the Museum of Sex in New York. This marks the first public showing in the United States of a series of sculptures Feuerman began in the 1970s, which were previously censored after a 1978 debut in Fort Worth.

The works focus on fragmented representations of the female body, challenging traditional ideals and inviting viewers to reconsider societal perceptions of femininity and form. Feuerman employs life casting techniques, capturing intricate details like skin texture and pores, and uses materials such as resin and marble to achieve a lifelike appearance. Her approach transcends mere realism, aiming to evoke deeper emotional and psychological responses from the audience.
