Chambres à Part – Grand Écart
Curated by Laurence Dreyfus at Galerie Aveline
Galerie Aveline, 94 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris, France
Curated by Laurence Dreyfus, Chambres à Part – Grand Écart placed contemporary art in dialogue with eighteenth-century decorative arts at Galerie Aveline in Paris. Patrick Roger presented eleven sculptures in bronze, silver and copper, including monumental works, within a group exhibition that also featured artists such as Wolfgang Tillmans and Ben Arpéa.
Eleven Sculptures Among Eighteenth-Century Rooms
Roger showed eleven works in bronze, silver and copper, several of them monumental, in a setting normally given over to eighteenth-century furniture and objects. The gap between the two — the grand écart of the title — was the point of the exhibition.
A Curated Encounter
Laurence Dreyfus has built Chambres à Part over successive editions as a series of encounters staged outside conventional exhibition spaces. This edition, at Galerie Aveline on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, also included work by Wolfgang Tillmans and Ben Arpéa.
