A sculpture encountered on a city street can change the rhythm of an ordinary day. Someone stops, looks again, and finds a moment of quiet amid the movement around them. For Carole A. Feuerman, that encounter is central to the power of public art.
Following its presentation along Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, Monuments of Stillness will arrive on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills on November 6, 2026. Feuerman’s monumental figures will enter a new landscape, bringing her exploration of the human body, water, strength, and introspection into one of the city’s most visible public spaces.
From Chicago to Beverly Hills
In Chicago, Feuerman’s sculptures stood among the architecture, traffic, and crowds of Michigan Avenue. Their apparent stillness offered a striking counterpoint to the pace of the city. Visitors did not need to enter a museum to find them. The works became part of daily life, open to anyone passing by.
One particularly vivid connection between art and public life came when Christina was presented beside the Chicago River during the Chicago River Swim. Set near real swimmers, the solitary figure brought Feuerman’s longstanding interest in water into direct conversation with the event unfolding around it.
Rodeo Drive offers a different setting and a new audience. Yet the invitation remains the same: to pause, come closer, and see beyond the extraordinary realism of Feuerman’s figures. Their quiet expressions and physical presence suggest resilience and vulnerability, leaving room for each viewer’s own response.
The artist behind the work
The Beverly Hills installation will coincide with the premiere of Chasing Jupiter, a documentary about Feuerman’s life and artistic journey. Together, the film and the public presentation offer two perspectives on a career spanning more than five decades: the personal story behind the sculptures and the moments those sculptures create when they meet the public.
