From May 30 to October 20, 2026, Carole A. Feuerman's monumental swimmers line Chicago's Magnificent Mile. Presented by Hilton Contemporary, Monuments of Stillness places ten sculptures along Michigan Avenue, from the Wrigley Building north toward Oak Street, turning one of America's busiest urban corridors into an open-air exhibition.
Stillness in the middle of the city
Feuerman's swimmers, from life-size to more than twelve feet tall, are caught in moments of reflection and resilience. Set among the traffic and crowds of Michigan Avenue, they offer a quiet counterpoint to the energy of the street and invite passers-by to pause, outside the walls of a museum.
Christina at the Chicago River Swim
In September the installation reaches the water. For the Chicago River Swim on September 20, Hilton Contemporary brings Christina to the Chicago Riverwalk. In a pink bathing suit, poised between stillness and movement, the life-size swimmer shares the spirit of the swimmers entering the river: focus, courage and the pleasure of being in the water.

On September 19, Hilton Contemporary also presents a solo exhibition of Feuerman's swimmer sculptures, with a conversation with the artist at the Foundry Room, 700 La Salle Drive.
A defining year
Chicago is one chapter in an exceptional year for the artist. In New York, the International Sculpture Center honored Feuerman with its 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing more than five decades of work. After Chicago, Monuments of Stillness travels to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, alongside the premiere of Chasing Jupiter, a documentary on the artist's life and career.
