Gregory Watin, born in 1976 in France, has been internationally recognized for his urban mixed-media style. His work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions across Europe and the USA for the last 15 years. He immerses himself in all things that give strength to urban terrains, observes structures marked by time, and gathers all these elements to build a new universe. After taking photographs (eventually used as sketches), he finds a way to breathe a second life into the atmosphere of the landscape. Bright colors brighten the often monochromatic location. He inlays various elements of nature, wood, cardboard, paper, and plexiglass. There is a notion of urgency in his work: to seize on an idea before it gets away, put on canvas the instant gesture, the instant collages, the instant urge. He has created his contemporary poetry from daily material, the town, and the people. This imaginative urbanity is neither bleak nor bland; instead, if observed closely, his cities brim with color and rhythm.
