Presented by Galerie Hubert Konrad at PAD Paris in April 2009, Alain Godon’s BildoReliefo brought a new reading of his painted cityscapes to the Jardin des Tuileries, exploring color, shadow and the illusion of depth.
In April 2009, Galerie Hubert Konrad presented Les BildoReliefo de Godon at the Pavillon des Arts et du Design in Paris. Held in the Jardin des Tuileries from April 1 to 5, the presentation introduced visitors to a body of work that translated Godon’s painted compositions into digitally reworked images.
Working from original oil paintings, Godon used digital processes to explore variations in color, shadow and apparent depth. Buildings, figures and small narrative details acquired a different spatial presence. The subject remained recognizable, but the relationship between its elements invited a new reading of the composition.
The PAD presentation belongs to the early history of the approach Godon later named 24 Hours. The surviving exhibition poster and installation photographs document this stage in his practice, connecting his architectural paintings with an expanding investigation of the image and its possibilities.
