Annalù’s Lotus: Resin Petals Around a Heart of Murano Glass
Circular wall works where painting and sculpture merge, inspired by the flower that rises clean from the water

The lotus takes root in mud and opens its flower above the water, untouched. In her Lotus series, the Italian sculptor Annalù turns that ascent into circular wall works where painting and sculpture merge and enrich each other: broad petals of colored resin unfold around a heart of precious glass made on the island of Murano.
Across Asia, the lotus has long stood for purity and rebirth: a flower that grows out of murky water and still blooms immaculate. Annalù takes it as an image of renewal in a world altered by impurities, and her method follows the same principle of elevation as the plant itself. Paper, ink and ash, the humblest of materials, are combined with resinglass, the resin-based composite at the core of her practice, and raised into a form that seems to float off the wall.
Between the instant and the eternal
At the center of each work sits a core of Murano glass, made on the island to a closely guarded formula. Around it, layers of tinted resin open like petals. The works hold two opposites in balance: a fleeting instant and its permanence, petals as fragile-looking as a splash of water and a material dense enough to last. Annalù conceives the series as a vehicle for love and compassion.
From Purple Bloom to Light On
The first Lotus works date from 2023: Lotus Purple Bloom, Lotus Tian, Lotus Furong and Lotus Perla d’Oriente, titles that look toward the East. The series belongs to the family of her Dreamcatchers, the circular works for which she is best known, and she has carried it forward with Dreamcatcher Lotus Purple Sky (2024), then Dreamcatcher Lotus and Dreamcatcher Lotus Light On (2025). The works measure from 47 to 79 inches (120 to 200 cm) in diameter; Dreamcatcher Lotus Light On, 79 inches across, was exhibited at Art Miami in December 2025.
The lotus in light
The flower also blooms in the Light Discs of Annalù’s D-Collection, her limited works conceived in dialogue with design and interior architecture. At the center of a Murano glass disc, an explosion of resin forms a vortex that opens into a shining flower, lit by LEDs; each disc is unique. Two of them are available at the gallery: the Turquoise Lotus LED Light Disc and the Violet Lotus Light Disc, each 27.5 inches (70 cm) in diameter.
