Tom Lieber, Debra Drexler and Don Bernshouse presented three approaches to abstraction at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
Abstraction×3 brought Tom Lieber, Debra Drexler and Don Bernshouse together at the Schaefer International Gallery of the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The 2021 exhibition presented their different approaches to abstract painting, with Lieber’s Contact (2020) reproduced in the official brochure.
The Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts subsequently documented its acquisition of Contact from this exhibition for the Art in Public Places Collection. That connection links the group presentation with the later museum exhibition Accession.
