Invited by the Musée départemental Matisse, Alain Godon explored the role of travel in Matisse’s work through a project connecting New York and Tahiti.
Travel as a Subject
Curated by Patrice Deparpe, the exhibition started from the importance of travel in Matisse’s work and invited Godon to answer it with a journey of his own between New York and Tahiti. The museum announced more than 150 works for the presentation in Le Cateau-Cambrésis, the town where Matisse was born.
