Forces vives: trajectoires de l’abstraction

Drawn from the collection of the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent, Forces vives: trajectoires de l’abstraction examined multiple generations and directions within abstraction in Québec. Curated by Rébecca Hamilton, the exhibition placed Cerj Lalonde’s work in dialogue with artists including Jean Paul Riopelle, Claude Tousignant, Marcel Barbeau, Rita Letendre, Jean McEwen and Armand Vaillancourt.

The presentation emphasized abstraction not as a single historical movement but as a continuing field of experimentation. Lalonde’s use of saturated color, geometric structure and symbolic forms contributed a distinctive position shaped by painting, conceptual inquiry and a long engagement with digital and multimedia culture.
