Downtown Burbank x Richard Orlinski

Richard Orlinski Takes Over Downtown Burbank

AMC Walkway, Downtown Burbank, California

From May through September 2026, Richard Orlinski transformed Downtown Burbank into an open-air gallery with seven monumental sculptures installed throughout the AMC Walkway. Presented by Visit Burbank, the public exhibition marked the French artist’s first major presentation in the city and continued his practice of bringing contemporary sculpture beyond traditional gallery and museum spaces.

The installation brought together several of Orlinski’s most recognizable figures, including Wild Kong, Panther, Crocodile, Lion, Standing Bear, Horse and Howling Wolf. Enlarged to monumental scale and placed directly within the pedestrian landscape, the works created an encounter between Orlinski’s faceted animal forms and the architecture, movement and everyday life of Downtown Burbank.

Art in the Public Space

The Burbank exhibition reflects a recurring dimension of Richard Orlinski’s practice: making sculpture accessible outside conventional art venues. Visitors could move freely among the works, experience them from multiple viewpoints and use QR codes installed alongside the sculptures to learn more about each piece.

Presented in the heart of a city closely associated with film, television and entertainment, the installation also placed Orlinski’s pop-inflected visual language within a particularly relevant cultural setting. The AMC Walkway provided the exhibition with a highly visible pedestrian environment in which monumental sculpture became part of the daily urban experience.
