Crossing the Sea

Water, warmth, skin, the sensations at the heart of Carole A. Feuerman's practice become the starting point for Crossing the Sea, a new transformation project staged by the Made in Cloister Foundation. Long known for hyperrealist figures that capture the body at rest, mid-breath, caught between tension and ease, Feuerman brings that same attentiveness to a setting with its own history of transformation: a 16th-century cloister in Naples reborn as a center for contemporary art, craft, and design. Curated by Demetrio Paparoni, the exhibition speaks directly to Made in Cloister's founding idea, that beauty exists in all things, including the ones that at first seem the most unsettling or out of place. Set within the cloister's Renaissance walls, Feuerman's work becomes less an object to view than an invitation to notice: how light falls, how water moves, how something as ordinary as balance can carry weight.
